Movie Reviews

Since I spent my Friday afternoon in bed due to sickness and very obviously not being pg (thanks AF) I decided to catch up on the movie rental scene. I figured I'd give some reviews of the movies I watched on my chick flick/partial DH time day.

The Women - This was a funny movie. Kind of Sex and the City esq with the bond of 4 women at different points in their lives dealing with one of their husbands having an affair. Again a funny movie, of course any movie with Jada Pinkett Smith playing a lesbian is gonna be funny (she does it well). It was a good chick flick, not a must see but had memorable points and a decent story line to keep me watching.

Pride & Glory - This was the movie I rented for DH staring Edward Norton (mmmm) and Colin Farrell. It's about corrupt cops basically killing off the criminals and stealing their drugs/money. Definitely a guy movie, had Steve not been talking to the TV on a couple of occasions I probably would have fallen asleep (remember I wasn't feeling well). It's one of those movies that you would end up saying, "remember that movie about those cops, where the killed the guy in the street, I think Edward Norton was in it" to which the person would reply "American History X" and you'd say "No that was way better, it was some other movie". Worth spending the time on a lazy day but I would have been pissed had I paid the money to see it in the theatre.

Secret life of Bees - I loved this movie. Complete chick flick but a total tear jerker. It's staring Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys. This was just an overall good movie. It's about Dakota Fanning's character basically trying to find herself. Her mom is dead, her dad is in no way loving and it's set in the MLK days where segregation is a way of life. I don't want to give anything away because I'd much rather you watch it. This is one that I will go buy so I can watch it again and again.

So those were the three movies I watched on Friday! Overall I was happy with the selections because none of them were horrible. I also have to say that it was a day for children named after months. In the women, Debra Messings kids were named April, May, June and January and in The Secret Life of Bees the characters were April, May, June and August. Just thought that was funny!

Out of all this, rent The Secret Life of Bees! It was well worth it!
