I feel so bad for Steve, last night he was walking into the parking garage at our apartment and a spider came flying at his face, natural reaction, swing! Well this can't be your reaction when you had surgery 2 weeks ago on your shoulder. He was in so much pain I felt horrible for him, he popped a bunch of drugs, iced his shoulder and called the advice nurse. She said he was already doing everything they would tell him to do and if it got worse, go to the ER.
Well this morning he still wasn't feeling better so he called again to get a hold of his doctor/surgeon. Well apparently the guy is in surgery today so they told him to come to the ER! They charged him a $100 co pay, gave him a shot for pain (that isn't working) and did 4 xrays. That doesn't do a whole lot of good when the surgery was on the muscle but okay, at least he knows he didn't dislocate his shoulder (which we didn't think he did).
Then to top it all off, last night he got a call from his mom and she informed him that his grandmother isn't going to last much longer. She turned 85 on our wedding day last year and has had Alzheimer's trying to take over her life the last couple years. Apparently she is to a point where she isn't eating much and is in a lot of pain. His mom told him if he wants to see her, he needs to do it this morning (which he couldn't since he was at the ER) or tomorrow morning.
Her family asked if there was anything she wanted to see before she passed so Steve's aunt and uncle are renting an RV and on Saturday morning and driving her to Yosemite. Steve spent every childhood summer camping with the entire family at Yosemite so obviously that was a huge pull on his heart strings.
I really hope that when she does pass it is peacefully. DH is sad to know that she will most likely never get to meet our baby, but he can be happy that his cousin gave birth to her first great grandchild in January and she was able to meet him in March. He will be carrying on her husbands name!
So if you could keep Steve in your thoughts that would be great. With his physical health and now his mental health strained, I'll do my best to be the most supportive wife he could ever ask for!
