Steve has had shoulder problems for years, he works construction so with the lifting and working above his head (he's a glaizer aka glass guy) it comes to be expected. Well he got to a point in life where he would rather not continue to tolerate the constant pain and went to the doctor. They did an MRI and said he had a slight tear in his rotator cuff and it could be fixed via surgery with 6-8 weeks recovery.
So we schedule the surgery for about a month after our wedding on Aug 22, 2008. Day of surgery doctors tells him he's going to go in and fix the tear and while he's in there he'll remove arthritis from the bones to give more room for the tendon. When he gets out of surgery they tell him there was no tear but they took the arthritis off, WTF? What happened to the tear?
He starts seeing a Physical Therapist once a week and is recovering faster than they expected as far mobility goes. Well come week 4 that bascially stops, no more improvement and he is in constant pain that is preventing him from sleeping. They give him a cortizone shot and some sleeping pills, good ol' Kaiser and their drugs. Well the sleeping pills didn't last long, they worked for about 2 days and then not anymore, plus they interfered with baby making because little man never wanted to play. The cortizone allowed him to work out with the elastic bands but he was still in constant pain.
Next thing you know his physical therapist says there is nothing else she can do for him and will only see him once every 10 days. He continues to work it out himself and finds another therapist (kaiser of course because they refuse to out source you). Let me also say that this is after 3-3.5 months so almost double his supposed recovery time. He starts seeing the other therapist once a week and pretty much has gotten complete mobility back in his shoulder but has no muscle to lift, which is required to do his job. He starts hitting up the gym 3-4 times a week doing light weights on his shoulder and lots of cardio to get rid of the tire he has now developed that makes him VERY self consious.
Two weeks ago he saw the PT for the last time, there is now nothing else she can do for him based on the guidelines and rules set out by Kaiser. Still with very little muscle and now almost 6 months down the road he asks to see the doctor/surgeon again. They send him in to have an MRI and his appointment with the doctor was today. Oh and did I mention that his disability got cut off as of February 26th and if he is not back to work by April his union drops his insurance.
So the doctor today says that Steve now has a 50% tear in his Rotator Cuff and his only options are another cortizone shot (which is far from candy) to work through the pain, to have surgery again and fix the tear or to continue rehab and hope it gets better. Well isn't that flippin lovely!!! How the hell did a 50% tear magically apear when it wasn't there 6 months ago (even though it was there 3 months prior to that) when he has had 1/16th, if that, of the strain he normally puts on his shoulder.
Now his options are to 1) be in constant pain and take another cortizone shot that could potentially do more damage than its worth and go back to work 2) have another surgery and hope that he recovers quickly but most likely it would be double recovery than this time so potentially a year off with no pay and no insurance after May (even though I can add him to my insurance) or 3) do more therapy with no pay and under my insurance which is an HSA pay out of pocket for the first $1500 until I can switch in July.
Granted we can live on my income but not with added expenses of PT and paying for his insurance, well okay maybe we could do that but life would royaly suck! I hate Kaiser, they just made up my mind about switching to them when we get pg. I'll stick with my insurance thanks!

Long Valentine's Recap
Steve and I had originally wanted to go to Dante's on Pier 39 in San Francisco because that was where he proposed and they had AWESOME food. Come to find out they are closed down and have been replaced with a year around Christmas store. It's horrible what they did to this place, there was a view of the Bay, the Bay Bridge, Coit Tower, I mean this place was scenic and now it's walls are covered in book shelfs holding ornaments and tons of other crap you dont need or want. Yes I'm bitter!
So anyway given that they were gone I told Steve to pick a place and he made reservations at The Crab House on Pier 39. Our reservations were for 5:45 and as always Steve was running late. We wanted to leave the house by 5:00 yet at 5 minutes till, he was still in the shower, he called and asked to move back the reservation and they told him no. We end up leaving around 5:20ish and even with no traffic it takes at least 30 minutes to get to the city (we should have known better and planned to leave by 4:30). Anyhow by the time we got to the slow down for the bridge it was already 5:40 and we didn't get on to the bridge until 6:15.
At this point I knew we were screwed and had long given up on the idea of a perfect night. We get into the city and pull into the parking garage in front of the wharf. 20 minutes later we finally get a spot on the third level, yes it took 20 minutes just to get up to the 3rd level. By this time it's just after 7:00pm so we go to the resturaunt and Steve talks to the same girl and she tells him there isn't much she can do, puts our name on the list and tells him an hour. Knowing this I was fully prepared to find somewhere to have a drink (as there bar was full). After searching 4 places, nothing so we walked around the wharf, in and out of the shops...got some chocolate...yum!
8:15 rolls around and we show up back at the restaraunt, they seat us at the bar to wait for our table. We order drinks and after 20 minutes of waiting end up ordering an appetizer. Another 20 minutes later we are conspiring with the couple next to us trying to figure out who is getting a table first because they were told they were next and then 4 people were seated before them. Then comes Mr Pimp Wanna Be in his white suit, hot pink shirt and matching white baseball cap. We see him obviously slip some cash to the hostess and I'm pissed because we see them figuring out where to seat this guy. I was just about to flip when I see them seating him in the back when they came over and pointed us to our table. This was 2 minutes shy of a 2 hour wait for us and after 9:00pm.
Our waiter comes over and we ordered 3lbs of crab to share, some bruchetta and a bottle of wine. This is where I lose track of time, we had a complete story ready to call the manager over at the end of our meal and complain about the hostess service but after bottle of wine #1 was gone we didn't care anymore. Steve ordered another bottle and we got started on that.
We ended up having a great time, I was completely wasted because I'm sure it was me drinking 2/3 of each bottle after my two vodka drinks at the bar. We shared some Tiramisu, paid the enormous tab and got back to the car just after midnight! I asked Steve about 20 times on the way back to the car if he was okay to drive and he was, I was even more certainly the drunk one! I passed out in the car about half way home, got in the house and was out (not before setting my alarm to temp in the morning, but before writing down my temp saved from that morning).
I woke up the next morning feeling toxic but by 10am I was good to go!
I ended up having a great 1st Valentine's Day as a Wife. I got half a dozen roses, a balloon, a teddy bear, godiva chocolates, two cards (one romantic and one funny) and an awesome yet totally went wrong night. Next year were moving on to the exchange cards only phase!
Oh and far as The Crab House goes, their hostess's suck but will take a tip under the table to seat you faster, their house beer tastes like dirty water, the waiter we had was AWESOME and the crab was good although not anywhere near the best I've had. The tiramisu was nothing special but get yourself a nice bottle of Robert Mondavi Fume' Blanc...it's extra yummy!

Movie Reviews
Since I spent my Friday afternoon in bed due to sickness and very obviously not being pg (thanks AF) I decided to catch up on the movie rental scene. I figured I'd give some reviews of the movies I watched on my chick flick/partial DH time day.
The Women - This was a funny movie. Kind of Sex and the City esq with the bond of 4 women at different points in their lives dealing with one of their husbands having an affair. Again a funny movie, of course any movie with Jada Pinkett Smith playing a lesbian is gonna be funny (she does it well). It was a good chick flick, not a must see but had memorable points and a decent story line to keep me watching.
Pride & Glory - This was the movie I rented for DH staring Edward Norton (mmmm) and Colin Farrell. It's about corrupt cops basically killing off the criminals and stealing their drugs/money. Definitely a guy movie, had Steve not been talking to the TV on a couple of occasions I probably would have fallen asleep (remember I wasn't feeling well). It's one of those movies that you would end up saying, "remember that movie about those cops, where the killed the guy in the street, I think Edward Norton was in it" to which the person would reply "American History X" and you'd say "No that was way better, it was some other movie". Worth spending the time on a lazy day but I would have been pissed had I paid the money to see it in the theatre.
Secret life of Bees - I loved this movie. Complete chick flick but a total tear jerker. It's staring Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys. This was just an overall good movie. It's about Dakota Fanning's character basically trying to find herself. Her mom is dead, her dad is in no way loving and it's set in the MLK days where segregation is a way of life. I don't want to give anything away because I'd much rather you watch it. This is one that I will go buy so I can watch it again and again.
So those were the three movies I watched on Friday! Overall I was happy with the selections because none of them were horrible. I also have to say that it was a day for children named after months. In the women, Debra Messings kids were named April, May, June and January and in The Secret Life of Bees the characters were April, May, June and August. Just thought that was funny!
Out of all this, rent The Secret Life of Bees! It was well worth it!

1st round of dissapointment
I think this will offically become a TTC blog because I never realized how much I might need to vent, until now. I got my first BFN today and I'm spotting off and on. Everyone tells me that I still have a chance and as much as I want to believe it, I can't. Now I just want AF to get here so I can start a new cycle and try again.
It's so frustrating because my body is doing things that it has NEVER done. I never get cramps before the first day of my period, whether I was on or off BCP and yet I have had mild cramps the last two day. I have had massive heartburn that is totally unexplainable by anything other than blaming my weight. This is also the longest dpo I have gone, but I did start taking B-6 so maybe I can blame all this on that.
I 100% knew that it was totally possible to not get pg, I just think I had my heart set on it for so many reason. I would have a baby before my 30th birthday and the baby we be born between mine and Steve's birthdays. I would be getting pregnant and delivering in the same year so I wouldn't even have to consider switching to Steve's insurance because mine would cover it without added expense. Plus after having to TTA for so many months I'm a little desperate to get going.
There are just so many emotions going through me and while some are purely selfish and make me look like a big baby, they still suck! I'm just like all the other girls who want to have a baby and I have to remember to count my blessings that at least I am as normal as possible (from what we can tell). I guess I just need to stop focusing so much.
I have gotten myself in such a good habit of checking CM constantly and temping perfectly that I wonder if I am doing to much. Steve assures me that I'm not going overboard and I'm not ignorant to how it all works so he's okay with my medium level involvement in all this. In the end I still wonder!
So there's really nothing I do, I would expect a temp drop tomorrow and if for some reason it doesn't I'm not testing again until Sunday because I dont want another day with a mood like today! I'll assume I may get used to it and just become obbsessed with peeing on things instead but who knows.
Month by month, day by day, hour by hour, even down to the minute I just need to remember it will happen when it's supposed to!
