Cruisin Alaska w/ the Fam

Well we're back and we're exhausted!

A 7 days cruise through Alaska (and Canada) with 11 family members your not allowed to throw off the ship will do that to you! We had 4 stops, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Prince Rupert. The cruise began and ended with full sea days and baby was not having it. The first morning I woke up and Steve hopped in the shower, next thing I know I'm banging down the door telling him I'm invading for the toilet, False alarm!!! However I have never wanted to throw up so badly during this pregnancy! Once I got some food in my system I was good to go and got to playing shuffle board out on the deck.
One thing I have to say about all the stops is that the ratio is about 20 jewelry stores for every person. So if your not interested in buying jewelry, there isn't a whole lot of shopping to be done! I tried my hardest to spend money but just wouldn't find anything I absolutely had to have. I ended up with a onesie for the baby and a stuffed huskie puppy and moose that we found out are actually puppets, for the baby, and a sweatshirt that I bought just to shut Steve up about me buying something for myself. I resolved that I would just come home and order a Precious Moments Eskimo figurine to add to my collection.

The scenery was beautiful but I was truly disappointed that there were no free standing huge glaciers in the water like they show in all the commercials. We were lucky enough to get patches of 5 foot wide glaciers that occasionally had sea lions on them jumping off just in time to not be crushed by the ship. Aside from the sea lions I spotted a couple brown bears on the shore one day and apparently there was about a 40 minute parade of whales next to the boat but we missed it for breakfast! I was so mad that the captain didn't announce it over the loud speaker. We were able to catch a glimpse of a couple of them but we missed the real show of them jumping in and out of the water!

Overall it was fun but exhausting because your going going going. I even took a nap everyday but the rocking boat still took its toll! Being on a cruise pregnant cuts down on the fun a little, there of course was no drinking but gambling was also out as people are allowed to smoke in the casino. I was able however to eat as much as I wanted and I even partook of a sushi dinner (doc said it was okay). I would do it again for sure but next time maybe without the entire family in tow!

Speaking of the family, they are just as dense as Steve and my mother when it comes to announcing my pregnancy. My mom asked me to do it asap so she wouldn't spill the beans so immediately after we got on the ship I stopped everyone and the first pretty staircase I saw to take a picture. I did the "Everybody say Billie's Pregnant" deal and they all just stood there like dummies! Steve, my mom, my brother and my uncle all knew and started repeating what I was trying to get across to them but it took a good 30 seconds to a minute before I got any kind of reaction!

The first pic is their "we're dummies smiling for the camera" the second is my "forced reaction" picture!!!

Oh well I was going to do something special to announce to our friends but I think at this point I need to just start being obvious!

Here are some other pictures from the trip...
